Topaz

Topaz Gemstone

Topaz has always been thought of as a yellow stone but it is present in a number of colors in the market. Topaz can be yellow, orange, pink, purple, red, brown, colorless, blue, green, and many more. Color centers and chromium cause the different colors in topaz. Red and pink topaz command the highest prices in the market as they are in the highest demand. The most expensive kind is the Imperial Topaz which is a medium reddish-orange to orange-red color topaz.

Most of the Imperial and Red topaz comes from Brazil. Australia, Myanmar, and Madagascar are home to various other colors of Topaz. Topaz is generally heated and irradiated to improve its color and to make it more desirable.

Topaz is used as a good imitator for several other more precious gemstones depending on its color.
